The Rich History of Château Dauzac

Château Dauzac's history dates back to 1190 when Pétrus d’Auzac was granted these lands by Richard the Lionheart. Over the centuries, the estate has evolved and innovated while respecting its traditions. From the creation of Bordeaux mixture in 1884 by Alexis Millardet and Ernest David to the recent acquisition by the Roulleau Family in 2019, each milestone has reinforced Château Dauzac’s reputation as a symbol of viticultural excellence.

Château Dauzac: Commitment and Innovation

Château Dauzac stands out for its commitment to environmental sustainability and its capacity for innovation. Since 2016, the estate has used indigenous yeasts selected and multiplied on-site, ensuring a unique and authentic fermentation process. In 2017, the estate replanted ungrafted Cabernet Sauvignon vines to restore the original taste of this emblematic Médoc grape variety. Additionally, Château Dauzac has pioneered the production of vegan wines, using plant proteins for fining instead of traditional egg whites.

Innovation is deeply embedded in Château Dauzac’s DNA. This year, the estate celebrates the 100th anniversary of the first bottling of a Grand Cru Classé on the property under the yellow label. This ongoing innovation reflects Château Dauzac's commitment to blending tradition and modernity to offer exceptional wines while respecting the environment. The current winemaker of Château Dauzac comes from a lineage of passionate viticulturists. From a young age, he was immersed in the world of wine, cultivated by his grandfather and father. After studying oenology in Blanquefort and training at Château Rauzan Ségla, he gained extensive expertise that guides him through every stage of winemaking.
