Domaine des Vignes Blanches: A Burgundy Institution

The earliest record of the LĂ©ger family, who still run the estate today, dates back to the 13th century. They are mentioned in the parchments of the Commandery of Beaune of the Knights of the Hospital "Saint-Jean de JĂ©rusalem" around the year one thousand.

This estate is located in the heart of Burgundy's vineyards, in Paris-l'HĂ´pital. Nestled in the Cozanne Valley, between the CĂ´te de Beaune and the CĂ´te Chalonnaise, the vineyard is sheltered from the winds, and its plots produce wines that are worth discovering.

Three Legendary Appellations

The estate's location allows it to produce wines from two red wine appellations and one white wine appellation. The domain gets its name from a plot particularly suited to the cultivation of Bourgogne Aligoté and the production of white wines. Although its name originates from this feature, its most famous and renowned wines are red.

Domaine des Vignes Blanches produces wines under the AOC Pommard and AOC Aloxe-Corton. In the latter, Christian Léger has the honor of producing a premier cru, the 1er cru Les Valozières. The name "Les Valozières" means "Valley of Willows" and characterizes its mid-slope terroir, facing south to southeast, with very clayey soils.
