DOMAINE GENTILE
Domaine Gentile: A Legacy of Corsican Excellence
Nestled in the heart of the prestigious AOC Patrimonio and AOC Muscat du Cap Corse appellations, Domaine Gentile is a testament to over 50 years of viticultural tradition and family passion. The adventure began with Viviane and Dominique Gentile, the children of winemakers, who set out to establish their own estate in 1970, infusing their vineyard with love, respect, and tradition.
Their son, Jean-Paul, represents the second generation of this winemaking legacy. Having grown up among the vines, listening to the whispers of the wind in the maquis, and smelling the unique aroma of grapes ripening under the Corsican sun, his vocation seemed destined. After receiving a degree in oenology, he returned in 1994 to breathe new life into the family estate. For Jean-Paul, that vintage marked not just a date but the beginning of a story. The respect for nature and the preservation of the identity of the Patrimonio and Muscat du Cap Corse appellations are central to Domaine Gentile’s philosophy. Jean-Paul has ensured that every stage of production is in harmony with the environment, opting for an organic approach that honors both the land and the consumers.
Domaine Gentile : Wines that Tell a Story
Surrounded by the majestic Cap Corse and the Gulf of Saint-Florent, Domaine Gentile proudly spans 30 hectares of preserved land. Here, each vine tells a story of rich terroir, authentic tradition, and a devoted family. These strong family ties are particularly evident when all family members, scattered across the globe, come together in joy each summer. The powerful and tannic red wines reflect the strong personalities that have shaped the estate, while the fresh and elegant whites and rosés evoke the gentle sea breeze that caresses the vines.
The story of President François Mitterrand, enchanted by a Gentile wine, has become legendary. The former president even delayed a meeting in Paris to enjoy a glass of Domaine Gentile wine. This moment, highlighted by Alain Ducasse’s words, underscores the ability of Domaine Gentile’s wines to captivate and offer unforgettable experiences. These exceptional wines are the result of meticulous work, a constant pursuit of excellence, and a passion for the vine passed down through generations.
A Vision for the Future and Agritourism
Corsica is a land of wonders, where every valley, beach, and mountain invites exploration. Driven by a desire to share his love for his homeland, Jean-Paul Gentile envisions revolutionizing how the world perceives Corsican wines. He aims to infuse an agritourism dimension into the estate. His ambition is to attract wine lovers, nature enthusiasts, and cultural explorers to experience an immersive journey through the Corsican terroir.
This agritourism project is more than just an extension of the estate; it represents a vision for the future. By inviting the world to discover Corsica through its wines, Jean-Paul aims to promote the island’s viticultural treasures while strengthening the connection between people, nature, and culture. It is this symbiosis, this mutual respect between humans and their environment, that makes Domaine Gentile an exceptional place where every glass enjoyed is a window into the soul of Corsica.
