Château de Berne is a vast wine estate located in the Haut-Var region, in the Provençal hinterland. Here, the vines flourish primarily on limestone hills at 300 meters above sea level. This privileged location allows the grapes to benefit from a significant temperature range, which promotes slow ripening and the development of complex aromas. The château also boasts a modern winery that handles everything from the arrival of the grapes to fermentation, aging, and bottling on-site.

Château de Berne cultivates a variety of grape varieties to offer a beautiful diversity in its blends. The estate is committed to environmental respect, and since February 2021, all 143 hectares of the estate have been certified organic. The château's restaurant is also committed to this approach, focusing on a locavore philosophy that prioritizes vegetables, fruits, and herbs grown on-site.

A Historic Estate

The Château de Berne dates back to the 18th century, but its prestigious history is much older. It is named after Bernard of Clairvaux, the founder of the Knights Templar, who was granted these lands by the Count of Toulon in the 12th century! This magnificent bastide has always attracted interest, and over time, with changes in ownership, its vineyards have expanded. Its location in the heart of Provence and its abundance of clear water springs have made it a cherished place for centuries. Numerous archaeological remains have been discovered in the vineyards, the oldest dating back to the Roman Empire.

The current owners continue to enhance this historic heritage by offering a comprehensive wine discovery experience at their château. In addition to the vineyard tours and activities, a 5-star hotel and a Michelin-starred restaurant complete the offerings of Château de Berne.

Château de Berne has successfully restored the nobility of Provençal wines, which are historically the oldest vineyard in France. The estate performs exceptional work on its wines to offer elegant cuvées that beautifully reflect the terroir in which they are grown, including their various rosé cuvées.

The estate offers several ranges, including light and fruity wines in the Esprit Méditerranéen collection. The Inspiration range, which includes AOC Côtes de Provence wines in white, red, and rosé, is perfect for all your convivial moments. Finally, the château offers high-end wines with the Terre de Berne cuvées, which are crafted, richer wines suitable for aging.
